Southend-On-Sea City Council has partnered with two outstanding business support providers to bring 4 fully-funded courses to individuals and businesses in Southend-On-Sea who are thinking of starting a business, have just started a business or are looking to grow an existing business.

Colbea

Is your business in its early stages and are you looking to improve your knowledge around the processes of setting up and identifying a suitable structure? Or do you feel as though you would benefit from enhancing your knowledge around the financial elements?

If so, Southend-on-Sea City Council in partnership with Colbea are thrilled to bring you the following fully funded, virtually available, training courses to support you on your start-up journey.

First Steps to Start-Up Success

First Steps to Start-Up Success is an online comprehensive training course for those starting-up or developing a new business. Split into two bite-sized sessions over two consecutive working days, this course will take you step-by-step through the process of setting-up and structuring your business. It’s all about getting started – how to prepare yourself and your finances and exploring your business idea in depth.

Who can apply?

Anyone in the city of Southend-on-Sea looking to start-up or develop a new business or idea. No prior business knowledge is required.

Introduction to Finance

Introduction to Finance is an online course aimed at helping you get the best out of your business, covering many key topics to help you get your business financially set-up and ready to enter the world of trading. The training course will help you understand how to present your forecast within your business plan, calculations around gross profit and net profit, your business viability including the basics of business taxation as well as many other aspects.

Who can apply?

Anyone in the city of Southend-on-Sea looking to help their business succeed through a better understanding of their finances. Particularly those in the early stages.

Also available through this programme is one to one business advice with Colbea’s specialist business advisors, who are on hand to support you with a variety of business-related topics. Are you an aspiring businesswoman who doesn’t quite know how to get started? With we are radikl’s “how to start your start-up” course, you can discover the building blocks to get your business off the ground in the comfort of your own home! Run over 6 weeks this online course will identify your target customer, develop your first business plan and, most importantly, make sure you are in the best position to get started.

Women and non-binary founders in the first six months of their start-up journey based in Southend-on-Sea.

Rise

So you’ve made the leap. You’ve launched your start-up and you’re working hard to turn your big idea into everything you know it can be. If you’re impatient for growth, ambitious for more and ready to take your business to the next level, the Rise accelerator programme is made for you. It’s a fully funded three-month part-time programme, designed for ambitious women, by ambitious women and delivered online.

Who can apply?

Women and non-binary founders who’ve started a business within the last 12-24 months based in Southend-on-Sea.
