Nationally there has been a movement to shop local.
There are many advantages of shopping local, including: the spending will boost the local economy; it may be an ethical choice for those with environmental consciousness; local independent shops tend to sell quirky, one-off gifts; one might get a better deal or some good service/advice from local traders; some even offer try before you buy; and many local shops act as mini communities so by shopping local you are supporting /building communities. And from a COVID perspective it requires less traveling and therefore less risk.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council have re- launched the ‘Shop Local, Shop Southend-on-Sea’ campaign, which coincides with the lift of Government restrictions which sees Southend enter the new Tier 2 restrictions, to highlight and promote the wealth of excellent local businesses our shopping districts have to offer.
