General Support

BEST Growth Hub - If your business needs support with planning, funding, networking, upskilling, apprenticeships, problem solving or adapting, the BEST Growth Hub can help all SME’s from pre-start to scale-up.

Enterprise Nation - Enterprise Nation is a vibrant community of small businesses and business advisers that exist to shortcut your route to trusted business support. Whether you’re starting or growing a business, they have the resources, expertise, and connections to help you get it right.

Start-Up Support and Funding

 we are radikl and Colbea- Southend-On-Sea city Council has teamed up with two excellent business support providers to provide free start-up support courses specifically for Southend businesses.  Aimed at those in the first year of doing business these courses offer a thorough grounding in how to get your business off the ground.  

WSX SELEP– In partnership with SELEP (South East Local Enterprise Partnership) WSX are providing a Start-Up and Succeeding in Business course that also offers a capital match-funded grant of up to £2,000.

South East Business Boost(SEBB) - is a capital match-funded grant aimed at helping SME businesses to start-up. Get up to £2,000 to help start your business.

Growth Support

 we are radikl– further to the above start-up support we are radikl are also providing their RISE course for women and non binary business leaders in Southend-on-Sea. This course aims to help you grow your business and take it to the next level. 

WSX SELEP - In partnership with SELEP (South East Local Enterprise Partnership) WSX are providing an Adapting with Digital course that helps to grow your business through developing all digital aspects. This also offers a small capital match-funded grant of up to £2,000.

Funding

There are a range of match-funded grants available to businesses in Southend-on-Sea. You will find information on two key grants below and further options can be found on the BEST Growth Hub Website

South East Business Boost (SEBB) - offers a capital match-funded grant aimed at helping SME businesses to grow. Get up to £10,000 to support your business.

Low Carbon Across South East (LoCASE)– offers match-funded grants, up to £10,000 to help businesses become more energy efficient.

Networks

The Southend Business Partnership -  is a network of over 1500 business professionals across Southend. The Partnership brings together businesses from all sectors, sizes and backgrounds to share best practice, contacts, knowledge and news.

Essex Chambers of Commerce -  is one of 52 regional Chambers accredited through the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), a not-for-profit membership organisation, attracting a wide range of businesses large and small.

Federation of Small Business (FSB), Essex – was established over 45 years ago to help members succeed in business, FSB is a non-profit making and non-party political organisation that’s led by its members, for its members.

Southend BID - was formed in 2013 to act on behalf of Southend-On-Sea town centre and seafront businesses to ensure that they can make the most of their combined potential and remain ahead of the competition and, via a strong collaboration, raise the profile of Southend.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) - provides expert international trade advice and practical support to UK-based companies who want to grow their business overseas.

Work Spaces

University of Essex Business Incubator - Located on the top floor of University of Essex Southend Campus’ Gateway Building, the Hub offers flexible office space and meeting rooms to new or growing start-ups. 

The Hive Enterprise Centre -  provides start-ups and growing businesses all-inclusive serviced office accommodation and shared work space with state-of-the-art communication facilities, as well as offering business support. 

Space282 -  was set up to be different, change with the times and give local people a space they want to work from and be proud of. They have created a community where individuals come together to help and support each other.
