The Economic Growth team runs a number of projects with the aim of providing businesses with information on how they can volunteer their time with local schools and inspire the furture workforce. With a university, colleges and 53 schools in the borough alone, there are a number of different training opportunties for your workforce.

The Enterprise Adviser Network is a national project that has been tailored locally to meet the needs to Southend’s young people, businesses and schools. It has been set up to inspire and prepare young people for the world of work.

60 Minute Mentor

The 60MM programme is an inspiring mentoring services available to selected schools and students across south Essex (Thurrock, and Southend-on-Sea). The project provides vital support and guidance for young people in Year 8, specifically those at risk of disengagement.

ABS - Work Skills Project

Since its inception in 2015, the Work Skills project has been a key cog in A Better Start Southend, with a focus on skills, enterprise, employment and wider economic development and with the aim of inspiring and exciting parents of children under 4 in the A Better Start Southend wards. The project shows to parents that the world of work can be both exciting and accommodating to them and the needs of their young children.
