Discover the pleasure of the world's longest pleasure pier.

If you walk along Southend-on-Sea’s High Street, towards the sea, your eye will be drawn in a straight line towards the longest pleasure Pier in the world. Standing for over a century it extends 2.158 kilometres (1.341 miles) into the Thames Estuary, and is a well loved and recognised symbol of Southend and the pleasures of the English seaside.

Sir John Betjeman once said, “The Pier is Southend, Southend is the Pier” and it’s as true today as it was when it first welcomed visitors all those years ago.

Adventure Island on Southend seafront is the perfect day out for all the family, and being a free admission attraction this means you only pay if you want to play.

With over 60 rides and attractions, there’s something for everybody to enjoy… Scream through the loops and twists of Rage – with its 75ft drop and 360 degree barrel roll it’s the only ride of its kind in England, and was voted the most thrilling rollercoaster in the UK by BBC1’s Blue Peter.

The newest addition is their 'Adventure Inside' - a brand new indoor centre that boasts a range of great rides, arcade games and attractions and a whole host of tasty food options. It's open all year round!

There’s always plenty of free entertainment on offer too. With themed weekends and not forgetting the spooky Fright Fantastic. And throughout September and October you can enjoy the “Big Saturday Night Out” with live music, DJ and fireworks.

Feeling hungry? Then there is the themed Jungle Jive Café and our new exciting restaurant ‘Feelgoods’ providing quality pizza and pasta with a super fun atmosphere, plus kiosks and carts serving everything from hot dogs and ice cream to candy floss and fudge – and not forgetting Southend rock of course!

Discover a world of watery wonder at the south east's premier aquatic attraction!

Throughout the themed Aquarium there's over 40 fascinating displays, letting you come face to face with many marine creatures!

There's lots that you would find locally in the Thames Estuary and around the British coastline, such as Rays, Crabs, Starfish and many more.

They also have a vast tropical section with an array of creatures from more exotic waters from around the world. Some of these displays include Lionfish, Porcupine Puffer fish, a very famous Clown fish and his friends, as well as their Tropical Sharks! Take a stroll in the underwater tunnel and see these amazing sharks for yourself!

Sea-Life Adventure are constantly bringing in new exhibits, and their newest include some snappy crocodiles, turtles, frogs, spiders and lizards! There's also a nursery area where you'll find the newborn creatures, and where they treat any poorly residents.

Everyday there's a full programme of demonstrations, talks and promotions, so visit their website for more details and plan your next visit!

Rollacity, located in Rochford, is a small but friendly skating rink that offers a classic, healthy family zip about on quad or inline skates, which are available to hire.

Great for skill-building and exercise, plus they offer varying session types with differing music and games.

There are a number of sessions available, from Open Skate, Coffee and Skate, lessons, and roller skating clubs, which means that there is something to suit all ages and ability levels.

Rollacity also has a number of party packages available depending on requirements and budget. If you and the kids would like to bring your own skates to use, they will need to be cleaned before being used inside, and you are not allowed to enter or exit the building while wearing them.

A member of staff will check the skates upon entry to ensure that all available fittings are attached, and that the wheels are of equal size, free of debris. You will also need to ensure that any over hanging parts or accessories (including cheese blocks, bolts, and screws) are made flush.

They also offer a great range of party packages, theme nights and a range of food at their restaurant, including milkshakes, snacks and some tasty hot food options.
